Can you see a Shopify store’s sales?

Not directly. Shopify keeps revenue, orders and stock levels private. But a few public signals are based on real sales, and they’re more useful than most sales estimates.

What you can’t see

• Revenue and order counts. No public page or file shows them.
• Units sold and stock levels. The public product feed (/products.json) shows whether each variant is available, but not how many units are left.
• Traffic. Only the store owner sees their analytics.

What you can see

• The best-selling order. /collections/all?sort_by=best-selling ranks products by the store’s real sales. It’s a ranking, not a count, but it comes from actual orders. See how to read it.
• What’s new. Every product shows when it was created and published, so you can see how often the store launches products and which new ones already rank high.
• Prices and discounts. Current prices, compare-at prices and how much of the catalog is on sale.
• Catalog size. /meta.json shows how many products the store publishes.

What about sales estimates?

Tools that show “monthly revenue” estimate it from traffic, review counts or other signals. They can be useful for comparing stores of very different sizes, but they are often far off for any single store. Treat them as a rough size range, never as a number to plan around.

A practical approach

1. Check the best-selling order to see what sells.
2. Check launch dates to spot new products that climbed quickly.
3. Check prices and discounts to see whether top products sell on price.
