How to see how many products a Shopify store has
Catalog size tells you what kind of store you’re looking at: a focused brand with a few hero products, or a large catalog that competes on range.
The quickest way: /meta.json
Open example.com/meta.json. The field published_products_count is the number of products the store currently publishes. published_collections_count shows how many collections it has.
Other ways
- The product sitemap. example.com/sitemap.xml links to sitemap_products_1.xml, which lists every product page.
- The product feed. example.com/products.json?limit=250&page=1 returns up to 250 products per page; keep increasing page until it comes back empty.
What the number means
- Under 30 products: usually a focused brand. Look at the best sellers; one or two products often drive most sales.
- 30 to 300: a typical DTC catalog with a few categories.
- Over 1,000: a range-driven store or a reseller. Price and assortment matter more than any single product.
Store Inspector shows the product count together with the median price, the share on sale and sold out, and new launches.
